2010 latest (1st September)...
The flood waters north
of the lake are receding but still an amazing site as are the flood waters to the west of Innamincka on
the Cooper Creek and the Coongie Lakes. ..... The Cooper Creek crossed the
Birdsville Track on the 1st June on its way to the Lake. The water is still around the Goyder Lagoon. This
is stunning as it was last year.... a real highlight.
Water is still coming down the Cooper. The Cooper has
reached Lake Eyre and is continuing to fill the Lake.
The weather up there is continuing to baffle us.....35 mm of rain last week has
added more water to the Lake ( now fully covered). Pelicans are starting to appear on the
Warburton river and on Silcrete Island on the Lake but still small in numbers.
As a result of the variable weather most trips have had to be altered when
airstrips are unavailable due to rain....this just adds to the adventure !
The 3 day charter calculates to around $2800 pp
for a group of 6 - 7 ...includes all accommodation, meals, tours and gst.
Drinks and single supplements ($150 pp) are extra.
The 4 day charter calculates to around $3400 pp
for a group of 6 - 7.
The 3 day trips include Innamincka for lunch, Birdsville first night and Arkaroola as the extra night (with the famous 4WD Ridge Top tour). Each trip is planned to stop at Muloorina Station for lunch
(where possible)and this may result in a ground tour
to the Lake.
Muloorina is not always available and hence on those trips we
will stop at William Creek for lunch or maybe the Cooper Creek for a boat
cruise. The boat cruise has been successful but not always possible due to local
airstrip condition with weather.
The 4 day trips via the Gawler ranges and Andamooka concentrate more on the
wildflowers plus the stunning Gairdner salt lake and the main sights of Lake
Eyre. At Andamooka we will do a
ground tour out to the edge of lake Torrens and also local sights around the
quaint opal mining town...very interesting.
3 day tour departure dates:.....normal
minimum of 5 passengers in the group is required
otherwise tour is cancelled ...
changes from Arkaroola to Andamooka are by request
and not definite
Extra trips will be arranged based on demand and accommodation/aircraft
availability...please let us know your interest by send a
holiday enquiry form.
