Tour Highlights
  • A low level flight down the Diamantina River, Goyder Lagoon and the Warburton River, culminating in a spectacular journey across Lake Eyre North.

  • Sunset drinks followed by dinner in the famous Birdsville Hotel.
  • Cruise down one of the most famous rivers in Australia, Cooper Creek.
  • 4WD tour to the edge of Lake Eyre.
  • Muloorina cattle station and William Creek.

  • Tour the central Flinders Ranges, with a drive through Brachina Gorge.

Board your Chieftain aircraft and depart Moorabbin at 8am as you start your three day Outback adventure including Birdsville, Lake Eyre and Arkaroola in the Flinders Ranges.

Day 1 - Welcome to the Outback
  • Board your aircraft and depart Moorabbin at 8am as you start your three day Outback adventure.
  • Its then a 2.5 hour flight to your first stop at Broken Hill for a quick refuel and coffee.
  • Heading north from Broken Hill you can see that you are already in the Outback, with a 1.6 hour flight to Innamincka. Enjoy lunch as you cruise down the Cooper Creek, observing the sights and sounds of the local birdlife.
  • Once back on dry land, a 1 hour flight over the recently flooded Coongie Lakes area gets you to your overnight destination of Birdsville on the Diamantina River.
  • Enjoy sunset drinks followed by dinner in the famous Birdsville Hotel, which in recent years has twice won the award for the Best Qld Outback Hotel Restaurant.
  • After a day of contrasts, retire to your twin share en-suite accommodation.
Day 2 - See the Changing Colours of the Outback
  • After a hearty breakfast, you then have a 2 hour low level flight down the Diamantina River, Goyder Lagoon and the Warburton River, culminating in a spectacular journey across Lake Eyre North from north to south.
  • Landing at Muloorina Station, where Donald Campbell broke the land speed record in the Bluebird in 1964, a 50 minute drive will take you out to the edge of the Lake.
  • Enjoy lunch taking in the views of the enormous flat white salt lake, whilst sharing stories and experiences with the owner of the cattle station. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be able to visit a private part of the Lake that isn’t available to the public. 
  • On your return to your aircraft, its then a short flight over the Flinders Ranges to Balcanoona. With the late afternoon sun getting low in the sky, the colours on the Flinders Ranges make for sensational viewing.
  • After a 30 min drive you arrive at the Arkaroola Wilderness Resort for your second night. After dinner and weather permitting, enjoy views of the night sky from the observatory, where knowledgeable staff are on hand to explain the night stars and constellations.
Day 3 Arkaroola, Australias next World Heritage location?
  • The last day starts with the famous Ridge Top Tour, a 4 hour open air 4-wd tour to Sillers Lookout in the Northern Flinders Ranges.
  • This trip exposes you to the amazing ruggedness and beauty of the Northern Flinders Ranges. Feedback from previous trips, is that this is a must do for everybody, at some stage in your travels.
  • All too soon its time to be heading home, lunch is served on-board your aircraft as you fly over Lake Frome on the way to Mildura.
  • After re-fuelling its a 1.6 hour journey to Moorabbin, arriving back home around 6 pm.

Our extended 4 day trip is similar to the 3 day tour but adds the majestic Lake Mungo and Broken Hill, coming back to Melbourne through Parachilna and the central Flinders Ranges.

Day 1 - Welcome to the Outback
  • Board your aircraft and depart Moorabbin at 9 am as you start your four day Outback adventure
  • Its then a 1.8 hours flight to your first stop at Lake Mungo National Park
  • This was one of the first iconic Australian locations to be added to the World Heritage listing, with Aboriginal history of at least 42,000 years
  • After lunch and a tour with a local accredited guide, its off to of Broken Hill the original home of BHP
  • Enjoy the grandeur of days gone by, as you settle into your accommodation at the historic Royal Exchange Hotel.
Day 2 - See the Changing Colours of the Outback
  • After a short tour of Broken Hill its a 1.8 hr flight to Innamincka. Enjoy lunch as you cruise down the Cooper Creek, observing the sights and sounds of the local birdlife.
  • On leaving Innamincka landing at the Dig Tree is optional and will depend on the time left in the afternoon, as well as the condition of the strip. If the decision is made to go, its only a 10 min flight.
  • At the Dig Tree its a 5 min walk to the Cooper Creek and Dig Tree. This location is of course part of the tragic legend of Burke and Wills.
  • Back in the air, its a 1 hour flight over the Coongie Lakes area then on to your overnight destination of Birdsville on the Diamantina River.
  • Enjoy sunset drinks followed by dinner in the famous Birdsville Hotel, which in recent years has twice won the award for the Best Qld Outback Hotel Restaurant.
  • After a day of contrasts, retire to your twin share en-suite accommodation.
Day 3 Australias Largest Lake (with water!)
  • After a hearty breakfast, you then have a 2 hour low level flight down the Diamantina River, Goyder Lagoon and the Warburton River, culminating in a spectacular journey across Lake Eyre North from north to south.
  • Landing at Muloorina Station, where Donald Campbell broke the land speed record in the Bluebird in 1964, a 50 minute drive will take you out to the edge of the Lake.
  • Enjoy lunch taking in the views of the enormous flat white salt lake, whilst sharing stories and experiences with the owner of the cattle station.
  • After a refueling stop at Leigh Creek, its only a 15 min flight to Blinman in the central Flinders Ranges. Here you will be picked up and driven to the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna.
  • The Prairie Hotel consistently ranks in the top 10 for regional restaurants and the accommodation is twin share en-suite rooms.
  • Enjoy a drink under the verandah of the Hotel, whilst watching the brilliant sun set and the changing colour of the Flinders Ranges.
Day 4 Flinders Ranges (Hills in the Outback?)
  • After breakfast, your tour of the central Flinders Ranges starts. Those with sharp eyes might see the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby as you drive through the rugged Brachina Gorge
  • Then its north to the old mining town of Blinman and some might wonder how anybody ever survived in the early days!
  • All too soon, you will be back at your aircraft at Blinman for your trip home.
  • On the way home, experience Wilpena Pound from the air as you over-fly on the way to Mildura for fuel and then its another 90 mins flying back to Moorabbin, arriving around 6pm
