Itinerary: King Island Express (2.5 days)
Melbourne to King Island
A 3 pm departure from Melbourne’s Moorabbin Airport to King Island will get you a fabulous view (weather permitting) of Heads of Port Phillip Bay, as you head south across Bass Strait.
Ian Johnson from King Island Tours will be your guide for the next two days and will transfer you to King Island Wilderness Retreat at Grassy on the south-east side of the island.
With the sky transitioning through multiple pastel colours as the sun sets behind you, a pre-dinner drink on the balcony overlooking Bass Strait awaits ahead of dinner and a full day tomorrow.
We had a marvellous trip to Flinders and King Islands and Tasmania. Flying on a small plane is so much fun. We all loved the birds eye view of Wilsons Prom and beyond, Flinders Island, north west Tasmania, King Island and flying over the heads and over Port Philip Bay on the way home.
