Mungo and Mildura (2 days)
Fly into the World Heritage area and one of Australia’s richest archaeological treasures where aboriginal people have walked for thousands of years. With a local tour guide, unearth Mungo’s ancient story on a National Park Day Tour. Overnight at Mungo Lodge in a deluxe cabin with a touch of luxury and uninterrupted views of the landscape from your private rear decking. Dinner and breakfast in the Bar & Bistro.
On day two, fly to Mildura and with a local expert guide, take a behind the scenes tour and tasting at the famous Trentham Estate Winery located on the banks of the Murray with a delicious lunch and paddle steamer cruise back to Mildura. Fly back to Melbourne late afternoon.
The trip is well named "Taste of the Outback" and left us wanting to see more, learn more and spend more time in these remote locations with the support of Kirkhope staff and their colleagues as they shared their passion for the places they know.
Itinerary: Mungo and Mildura (2 days)
Day 1: Melbourne to Mungo NP (L,D)
Depart Moorabbin Airport at 8.00am bound for World heritage-listed Mungo National Park in New South Wales. The archaeological treasures of Mungo Man and Mungo Woman, carbon dated to over 40,000 years old, were found here. Local experts will guide you through the story of Mungo, the ancient dry bed of Lake Mungo, the expanses of sand dunes and the surreal Walls of China.
The afternoon relax at the lodge and take in the wide-open views with perhaps a spectacular sunset or take one of the many heritage walks on offer. Come together for dinner and a glass of wine.

Heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Kirkhope Aviation for providing this tour, which exceeded all expectations. It was much more than just Lake Eyre.
