Itinerary: Taste of the Outback (4 days)

Day 1

Day 1: Melbourne to Mungo National Park to Broken Hill (L,D)

Your four day outback air safari begins from Moorabbin Airport at 8.00am, bound for World heritage-listed Mungo National Park in New South Wales.  The archaeological treasures of Mungo Man and Mungo Woman, carbon dated to over 40,000 years old, were found here.  Local experts will guide you through the story of Mungo, the ancient dry bed of Lake Mungo, the expanses of sand dunes and the surreal Walls of China.

You'll then head to Broken Hill where your accommodation for the night is at the historic Royal Exchange Hotel.  Be sure to drop into the nearby Palace Hotel, made famous by Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, for a drink before dinner.

It was a thrill to see outback sights that we hadn’t had the opportunity to experience before. The whole itinerary, including the ground tours, was excellent. Tony – you were great company and good fun, and made the whole trip so enjoyable. We are very satisfied customers.
